We can all breathe a great sigh of relief now that Paris has ended her hellish ordeal. I, for one, finally feel in complete harmony with the universe. My chi is no longer blocked. I didn’t know it WAS blocked until she was locked up like a feral animal and then I was all, ‘Damn, why am I constipated all the time now?’

She Who Is The Center Of The Universe is no longer caged, but is free, free, free to spread her radiant radiance to all the creatures of the Earth, bring peace and light to the Middle East, and stop Global Warming.

Over at the shiny new Huffington Post, Bill Maher talks about biodiesel as the fuel for the new millenium.

I, for one, am excited by these kinds of developments. I’ve always felt that the wide variety of motorized vehicles available to us today is a net benefit and our car culture has, for the most part, made life better. With the eventual depletion of the world’s oil (sometime in my grandkids lifetime), it only made sense to switch fuels. I wish I could find the reference now (I looked for it but could not find it), but it’s my understanding that when Rudolph Deisel made the first deisel engine, his fuel of choice was peanut oil.

Imagine what life would be like now if that had indeed come to pass. Peanuts would be the majority crop grown around the world, not soybeans. Perhaps there wouldn’t be enough peanuts to sell them at sporting events. Certainly, it would be more enjoyable walking down the streets of any major city. Every time a bus or truck drove past, you’d get a whiff of a good, old pb&j. With such a pleasant smell wafting about, people would be in better moods all the time. Thus, people would be friendlier to each other, the coutries of the world would get along and there would be no wars. And since everyone was happy, I would expect our sense of beauty and aesthetics would be highly developed. Buildings, cars, every product would be designed and build with an eye to the beauty inherent in it’s function and form. We would be living in a neo-Victorian world where things were build to last and be a work of art at the same time. You know, without the weird sexual repression.

Ah well. One can only dream.

In my judgement, this quiz has too narrow a focus on U.S. foreign policy and does not paint a complete picture of political and moral values but I was a bit surprised that I ended up with a “liberal” rating instead of a “realist” rating but, hey, it’s just a silly quiz.

Even though I scored fairly high on a similar, but more comprehensive, “Libertarian” quiz, I’ve never been entirely comfortable with some of what I consider to be the more dispassionate and fundamentally more conservative principles that extreme Libertarians tend to profess.
