Blind Spots

“It’s a huge setback for the far-right extremist agenda,” said Chip Terhune, chief lobbyist for the Oregon Education Association, the state’s main teachers union.

I guess people just have a blind spot when it comes to their own ideologies. Certainly, his agenda would NEVER be defined as a far-left extremist agenda. Heaven forbid. After all, it’s evil the way a certain segment of the population want to keep the money they earn rather than see it go down the sinkhole of an over-burdensome state government. How selfish! Fiscal restraint and responsibility is bad! After all, what does the cost of a program matter so long as it’s intentions are good and pure and help children, small dogs and the elderly!

Gah. The odious quote came from this article in that shining example of the local McPaper, the Oregonian. You will most likely be forced to enter your zip code, birthdate, and sex before the article will display. Why this information is necessary to the powers at be, I won’t even hazard a guess.
